Vermiculite and Perlite
Whittemore is our primary partner for vermiculite and perlite for the central and eastern
parts of the country. A family-owned company based in Lawrence, MA, Whittemore pops MEDIA, SOIL, & CONTAINERS
the product with their own furnaces for strong quality control of their horticultural products.
Vermiculite has a high water-holding capacity, good buffering characteristics and adequate
cation-exchange capacity. It has an absorptive capacity for fertilizer. The mineral itself
contains potassium, magnesium, and calcium available as a slow-release supply. Super
Coarse Perlite is screened to remove finer particles. The perlite provides aeration and
drainage, in addition to moisture retention for superior plant growth.

SUCCESS STORY
GGSPro and the Griffin sales team are invested in solving your pest problems as quickly and smoothly as
possible. Two recent cases demonstrate our approach. First, an outdoor hemp grower approached a Griffin sales
representative, with pictures of a mystery pest plaguing their hemp. GGSPro identified the caterpillar as hemp borer
and recommended two waves of BCA applications. The first wave cleaned up hot spots; the second wave provided
preventative control. BCAs were ordered and received that week, and the grower was able to complete their
growing season successfully.
Our second story also involves BCAs. When the industry recently faced a global shortage of beneficial nematodes,
our customers ran the risk of increased fungus gnat, shore fly and thrips populations. The CEA team implemented
training with GGSPro on strategies for a temporary solution. Our team then worked with our customers to identify
viable substitutes, appropriate for each situation. Sometimes the solution involved increased sanitation activities.
Sometimes it meant adding an additional BCA. By acting early and addressing unique needs, we were able to help
customers through what could have been a challenging situation. GGSPro is ready for your call and question.
