The Feast Continues
More from the 2016 California Spring Trials
By Jeanne Svob, Seed Business Manager; and Dennis
Meisch, Assistant Product Business Manager
Visiting more than 20 breeders and producers, over
the course of a week, scattered across 400 miles of
California coast, is difficult if not impossible to sum up
briefly. While we couldn’t fit everything into print, the 2016
California Spring Trials (CAST) certainly left us with more
to share! Keep reading for more introductions you’ll want
to consider for your 2017 programs:
Picture-perfect petunias
Benary has added three new colors to Success, a rookie
spreading series that’s gaining traction due to its excellent
branching and flower power. Coral, Pink Chiffon and Pink
Vein enhance the series.
Danziger debuted more than 90 new and improved items
this year. The most impressive among them was Amore
Queen of Hearts petunia. This novelty variety features a
star pattern with a twist: the contrasting color forms a
heart shape to the end of the petal, in between the center
star. The bright, stable pattern will make Amore Queen of
Hearts a standout at retail in baskets, pots and combos.
