Dow AgroSciences Introduces
a New Ornamental Insecticide
Untreated Treated with XXpire™
XXpire™ WG insecticide combines two new active ingredients, Isoclast® Active
(sulfoxaflor) and spinetoram, to control both chewing and sap-feeding insects
commonly found in ornamentals. Isoclast is a brand-new class of insecticide
chemistry (MOA 4C) and is not a neonicotinoid.
Available for use in nurseries, greenhouses and commercial landscapes, XXpire
is effective on 40 pests, including 7 of the 10 most troublesome ornamental
insects. When used according to label directions, XXpire controls whiteflies,
aphids, mealybugs, lepidopterans, lacebugs, certain scales and thrips, and
suppresses spider mites.
XXpire offers two modes of action and works through contact and ingestion.
Isoclast is a recently registered active ingredient and the sole member of the
sulfoximines. It provides excellent knockdown and residual control. Spinetoram is
a spinosyn insecticide (MOA 5) and offers enhanced insecticidal activity.
Tested on more than 300 crop species, including more than 100 ornamentals,
XXpire is gentle on plants and is an excellent partner in a resistance management
program. Because the active ingredients each belong to different IRAC groups,
XXpire™ WG insecticide can be rotated with other commonly used insecticides
in other IRAC groups. Rotating compounds between groups, rather than
subgroups, is recommended for maximum control.
